Registry for Agriculture

farmers.webp

An increase in food production for a growing global population requires stronger support for smallholder farmers, who produce nearly one-third of the world’s food yet often remain invisible to formal systems. A farmer registry helps governments identify and reach farmers more effectively, enabling better targeting of subsidies, extension services, finance, and market access.

By creating a trusted, unified record of farmers, registries reduce fragmented data across land records, support programs, and agricultural services, forming the foundation for a more resilient and inclusive agricultural ecosystem.

OpenG2P’s Solution

Farmer Registry that contributes to a Farmer Profile

OpenG2P is supporting efforts to establish a single, reliable source of farmer data, enabling targeted agricultural services and strengthening Ethiopia’s digital agriculture ecosystem, including integration with Agrinet. OpenG2P’s Registry module, linked with other databases, provides a comprehensive solution for a Farmer Profile.

Designed for scale, the Farmer Registry is planned to expand to 15 million farmers nationwide and is integrated with Fayda ID, ensuring trusted identity verification and interoperability across agricultural services.

  • Active in 12 pilot woredas with 80,000 successful registrations

  • Goal: To register 1 million farmers in 2026
