OpenG2P in Ethiopia

OpenG2P Partners with Ethiopian Government to Drive Digital Transformation

OpenG2P is proud to announce the successful completion of production pilots in three departments in Ethiopia with the Ethiopian Agricultural Transformation Institute (ATI), The Ministry of Women and Social Affairs (MoWSA) and The Ethiopian Disaster Risk Management Commission (EDRMC) aimed at leveraging digital solutions to transform the lives of the people.

Through these partnerships, OpenG2P is working closely with the Ethiopian government to support G2P systems as a part of their Fayda ID-enabled digital transformation journey in the country.

The Ethiopian Agricultural Transformation Institute (ATI) and OpenG2P

The partnership strives to implement a robust, interoperable farmer profile and a comprehensive database of uniquely identified smallholder farmers and farm information.

The farmer registry will serve as a key enabler for the effective delivery of digital agriculture services by multiple stakeholders. It will be introduced as an open-source platform, allowing private and public sector entities to collaborate and offer their services with farmers' consent.

The Ministry of Women and Social Affairs (MoWSA) and OpenG2P

The Ministry of Women and Social Affairs (MoWSA) provides social assistance to vulnerable groups such as urban destitute, elderly, families in need, and persons with disabilities. MoWSA is envisaging to implement the National Social Registry.

OpenG2P aims to implement a feature-rich, robust social registry, efficient benefits management and delivery system, enable data exchange between MoWSA and other departments and facilitate digital cash transfer. The partnership will support Ethiopia’s national and global development objectives of poverty alleviation, promoting transparent and equitable access, and fostering sustainable livelihoods.

The Ethiopian Disaster Risk Management Commission (EDRMC) and OpenG2P

EDRMC and OpenG2P are partnering to implement an efficient benefits delivery system to enable better data collection and management, implement the Program and Beneficiary Management System, and deliver the benefits and monitor the performance.

EDRMC provides critical food and non-food assistance to people affected by disasters like drought, flood, or any other natural calamities. Assistance is also given to people displaced by conflicts in a region, including internally displaced persons (IDPs).
